Another E3 has been and gone and we saw a lot of great games this year. Here are my top games shown at E3 2017
Release Date: Fall 2018 | Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4
Anthem is a brand new IP from Bioware’s team that brought you Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic. Set for a Fall 2018 release window this game is set in a vast open world in the future. Humanity lives behind “The Wall” which protects them from the harshness of the outside world. This is an open world game that is also online. It has been stated that you will come across other players with whom you can team up to complete missions or go it alone treating it like a single player game. Characters use exosuits of varying classes that allow you to do things such as fly and give superhuman strength.
Seeing as Bioware rarely disappoint when it comes to games and stories, this does look like a game to keep an eye on.

Metro Exodus is the next in the series of first person shooters set in post apocalyptic Russia. It follows on from Metro: Last Light. Artyom leaves the Metro to journey across the country to start a new life and this game is set over the course of a year. There has been mentions that players may not like this new open setting as previous games have been restricted to the metro system but the developers have stated that the game will not be an open world game. It will still be a linear game with some sandbox type areas that are free to be explored. The game will also have a weather system.

Ubisoft has taken a year or two off from it’s regular release schedule with the Assassins Creed to give the game some much needed attention to set it apart from it’s predecessors. The result of this is Assassins Creed Origins. I was a huge fan of the Assassins Creed series and up until the release of Assassins Creed 3 but I feel it went downhill after that.
Assassins Creed Origins has shown some much needed changes to freshen the series up and the story will take us back to the foundation of the Assassins Brotherhood in Ancient Egypt. It has switched from an open world Action to Open World RPG format and the playable area is supposed to be the whole country of Egypt. They have also opted for a Climb anything mechanic which means you can literally climb the mountains if you wanted to. This feels in some part a way of compensating for the lack of cities in this compared to previous games. New additions also include a skill system, better looting mechanics and also changes to the way combat works. Assassins Creed Origins has my attention but I hope it doesn’t suffer the same problems as the previous games.
Release Date: 17th November 2017 | Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4
Sequel to the 2015 reboot, Star Wars Battlefront 2 releases this year and brings a lot of new features and improvements. The most major thing is that they are including a story driven single player campaign. Something which was missing in the first game as Dice thought players didn’t care about single player in a multiplayer based game. The campaign is said to be a true Star Wars story. In addition to this the multiplayer will feature characters, maps and vehicles across all 3 eras of the Star Wars saga and a new class system is being brought in to play as well. Looking at the footage of this when it was shown at E3 it looks very impressive and seems to be a big improvement on the reboot. I think fans of the classic Battlefront games will be pleased with this one.
Release Date: 31st August 2017 | Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4
As a big fan of Life Is Strange I was excited when Dontnod Entertainment announced that they were working on a second Life Is Strange game. At E3 this year we saw a trailer and gameplay footage of Life Is Strange: Before the Storm. This 3 part prequel takes us back to Arcadia Bay and follows Chloe Price and Rachel showing their friendship and events leading up the the start of the original game. This is not the Life Is Strange 2 that we were expecting though, it is a separate prequel being worked on by Deck Nine Games while Dontnod are busy making Life Is Strange 2. Before the Storm gives the fans what they have been wanting and will not contain any supernatural powers like Max had in the first game. Personally I can’t wait for this one.

Not strictly new game, this is DLC for Horizon Zero Dawn. Not much has been revealed yet but according to the playstation blog we know that this is set in a new area north of the original map. We once again follow Aloy on her journey to find more answers. This DLC features an entirely new area to explore along with its own story line and side quests. I’m hoping to see further expansion on the world of Horizon Zero Dawn as well as it’s back story and maybe some new machines.
